(Epistemological, Environmental and Ethical Issues).

台灣大學訪問學人
演講內容簡介：
The purpose of this lecture will be to give a new understanding of the
relationships between Nature, Science and Society. In this lecture we will
try to disclose and unfold what are the epistemological, environmental and
ethical consequences of the interactions between Nature, Science and Society.
Our hypothesis is that a new definition of Science is necessary to understand
its links with social, environmental and ethical issues. We have to overcome
the positivist and traditional vision of scientificity if we want to be able
to grasp the contemporary problems of our time. Overcome the opposition
between Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, between Truth and Values,
between Science and Society, between Man and Nature. We are in the age where
Nature (a tsunami), Science (a power plant), Society (Japan) can interact in
a rather unpredictable way. News events require new thoughts to be adequately
addressed. Thinking the present is the only way to prepare the future.
