Abstract
Designing a pseudo-random number generator suitable for both simulation and
security applications is a challenging task. Classical generators like Linear
Congruential Generator LCG) or Multiple Recursive Generator (MRG) are good
for simulation applications but not suitable for security applications. They
are considered insecure because it is fairly easy to predict the whole
sequence from just a few past values. Therefore, they are not appropriate for
cryptographic applications. On the other hand, some pseudo-random bit
generators (PRBGs) such as the Blum-Blum-Shub (BBS) PRBG or the RSA PRBG are
considered secure but they tend to be very slow in computation. Hence, they
are not suitable for simulation applications. In this talk, we present a new
class of generators that can fit in both types of applications. Some
evaluation results on the security, efficiency, and empirical performance of
the new class of generators are provided.
