ETS suspended CBT in several area... ATTENTION: Applicants who took the GRE Computer-Based Test in 2002 or earlier in China (including Hong Kong), Taiwan, or Korea: The ETS suspended the GRE Computer-Based Test (CBT) in China (including Hong Kong), Taiwan, and Korea effective October 2002. The decision to discontinue the CBT in these countries was made after ETS discovered several Asian-language web sites in China and Korea providing questions and answers from live versions of the CBT. These sites were also being accessed in Hong Kong and Taiwan. To restore credibility to tests in these countries, ETS began administering only the paper-based GRE there after October 1, 2002. Because ETS has raised so many questions about the validity of CBT results, Biomedical Graduate Studies (BGS) at the University of Pennsylvania now strongly recommends that all applicants who took the CBT in China (including Hong Kong), Taiwan, or Korea re-take the test in its paper format.
