以下是他回我信時,在信中寫的解說,
因為提到很多原本不知道的事情,
經他同意後貼到板面上給大家參考
是用英文寫的,不過英文程度大約只有國中程度的我都看得懂
我想大家應該都沒問題吧!(顏色是我標的)

During my stay in Japan, I met my Kyudo master (弓術師範)and
he gave me the information about the seminar of International Kyudo
Federation (IKYF,国際弓道連盟). 600 foreigners will join the seminar
(Apr.10th-12th) and the ceremony "奉射 (Housya)" (13th), while 800
Japanese will join the ceremony on Apr.14th.
In 奉射 (or 祝射, Syukusya), an archer (射手, Syasyu or Ite)
generally releases two arrows to cerebrate the event. As you know,
a set of two arrows is so called 一手 (Hitote: a pair of 甲矢, Haya
& 乙矢, Otoya). Therefore, each archer will wait for a long time and
release only two arrows in that day. Unfortunately 奉射 is usually like that.
I think that most of foreigners want to try 段級審査
(Dankyu-Shinsa) /昇段審査(Syodan-Shinsa) on Apr. 15th. We usually
say 審査 (Shinsa). Again, each player uses only 一手 and
Kyudo masters
check his behaviour in terms of thefollowings:
1) hit, 中り(Atari)
2) form, 射形(Syakei)
3) manner and rule,体配(Taihai).
In 審査 for 級(kyu), 初段(SyoDan),and 貮段(NiDan) the form is most
important. A player with the wrong form cannot pass the 審査,
even if he hits the target. This is the reason why 劉師範 makes
you practice 射法八節 (Syahow-Hassetsu) again and again.
体配 is need to excecute the combination play, 立ち(Tachi). The plays
among five- and three- persons, 5人立ち and 3人立ち,
(Gonin-Dachi & Sannin-Dachi) respectively, are most popular.
In 立ち, each position/target has the special name (see the figure below),
i) 5人立ち (2 sets of names is commonly used)

which corresponds to the order to enter 射場. For example, as 大前 is the
first position in front of 上座, then the 大前の射手 enters firstly. The
next is the 二的の射手 and so on.... Besides,
We have to remember the walking style and the timing for stand up and
so on... Too many things!! But the priority is definitely to brush up
our 射形. 体配 is meaningless if 射形 is not good. For 参段(SanDan)
and higher 段, both 射形 and 中り are required.
I also suggest that the beginners had better imagine
their best form. The imagination greatly helps us to master any physical
training. For this purpose, Japanese sometimes follow the movement of
skilled archers attentively. Then we recieve the feedback and can imagine
the good form. This is a kind of practice, which is called
見取り稽古 (Mitori-Keiko/Geiko). I think that Taiwanese had better watch
弓道 books to construct their own good images instaed of 見取り稽古.
Although 弓道 books are written in Japanese, you can see figures and
pictures. It is enough at the initial stage.
劉師範 has two books. One is in Japanese and the other is in
English. I brought four books from Japan. One of them is an English book
as the same as what 劉師範 has. Two of the remaining three are new books
for me, and I start to read them.
A DVD-ROM is attached to one of them.
It is very interesting. Anyway I can help you and distribute the copy of
selected pages and DVD later.
