The Lincoln Society 林肯學社 February 26, 2006 The Chairperson English Department Dear Sir/Madam: The Lincoln Society takes pleasure in announcing the Twenty First Gettysburg Address Contest to be held on Saturday evening, April 22nd, 2006 at 7:30 pm, at Holiday Inn Asiaworld Taipei（VIP Court II）假日大飯店環亞台北, 100 Dun Hua North Road, Taipei We appreciate your cooperation in having held preliminary contests on your campus in past years and will be grateful for your continuing support this year. Please inform us the name, address and telephone number of your top winner by Wednesday, April 19th. Any student who has won a prize in a past Gettysburg Address Contest will not be allowed to participate again in fairness to other students. Your students have done well in these contests and undoubtedly will continue to achieve recognition. The awards will be as follows: First Prize will receive NT$3,000, Second NT$2,000, and Third NT$1,000. All three winners will also receive The Universal Lincoln, a compilation of papers presented by distinguished Chinese and foreign scholars at the "International Conference on Lincoln" held in Taipei. With the intent of contributing to Sino-American friendship and promoting understanding, The Lincoln Society believes that this annual contest serves to enhance the level of English usage among our university students and to stimulate their interest in the spirit of democracy.
