While Foye was a lock to be a lottery pick, Ray didn’t turn the scout’s eyes the same way. This was due to his height, lack of strength and ability to penetrate to the tin. If Ray can convince the Boston Celtics that he can shoot the ball well enough to play the two and handle well enough to play some one, he has a chance of making the C’s as a combo guard. One problem with this is the Celtics already have Delonte West, who already plays the combo guard spot. Ray may be in tough in Beantown. Kevin Pittsnogle 6-10 255 PF WV Sr. -- It appears that Kevin got「pittsnogled」 on draft night, as his name was not called from the Theatre. Pittsnogle is a one dimensional player in the mold of a Pat Garrity. Miami has signed him to play for their summer league team, and he will join the Mavericks team in Utah and weigh his options from there. He must prove to be versatile enough to play multiple positions and he must be able to defend at an NBA level. Pittsnogle has followed his teammate to Orlando where he will suit up for the Heat this summer. Mike Gansey 6-4 205 SG W. Virginia Sr. -- It was a long draft night in West Virginia, as the two star Mountaineers were left hanging by the phone. But Gansey was able to sign a 2 year deal with the Miami Heat on Wednesday which could end up being worth 1.1 million if he meets the stipulations of the contract. Gansey brings a valuable intangibles type player to the NBA champs in their bid to repeat. Gerry McNamara 6-1 177 PG Syr. Sr. -- From Scranton, Pennsylvania to Syracuse, New York, college basketball fans are well aware of this pitbull. MacNamara made a name for himself as a fiery competitor and a skilled point guard. A groin injury that sidelined MacNamara in the NCAA tournament also set him back in individual workouts. While MacNamara’s grit cannot be ignored, his game is not suited for the NBA. Expect him to have a fruitful career overseas. (ps. Rashad is playing for the Wizards summer league team and needs to show that he can defend the two spot and do all the other things besides shooting. A general lack of athleticism hurt his draft stock, but in a league where shooting is held at such a premium, one of the 30 teams could sign Anderson by the fall.
