"In all player contracts, you have these clauses that can void it. But there are also a lot of protections in the contracts for the players. The most celebrated instance of a team that tried to void a contract came after Latrell Sprewell choked Golden State coach P.J. Carlesimo at practice in 1997. The Warriors tried to invoke the morals clause in voiding the final three years of Sprewell's deal, worth around $24 million. But the arbitrator, John Feerick, then dean of Fordham's School of Law, reinstated the contract.
