news from 山谷登山會 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 謝謝北加州的蕭萌區﹐經過她不懈的努力﹐終於和住在灣區的奚會暲先生聯絡上了。 聽過蕭萌區email的社歌MP3(1974版) 和歌詞後﹐以下是奚先生給蕭萌區的回信。 I was quite surprised to find out by listening to the song that it IS the one I composed. You will be amazed to know how this happened. We, the Chinese Student Weekly, were in Kuala Lumpur, organizing a training camp for youth leadership in Cameran Highland in Malaysia.(I think it was 1957). We thought it would be nice to have a theme song. We only had a few days before the camp started. Maria Yen wrote the lyric and handed to me next morning for putting the music in. I had hardly any formal music training, except I sang in church choir in Hong Kong and played a little piano. At that time I did not even have a piano to play any tune with. So, I was "forced" to compose this song in my mind and sang it quietly along by myself to see if sounds ok. I knew there were quite a few bars need fixing but I absolutely had no time or the necessary skill to do it. For instance, there should be more breathing space or intervals between sentences. I still wish I can find a professional to fix it in order to make the singers not breathless when finished. Anyway, thanks for your interest. I certainly like to meet with you and other members when you are in Bay Area. I have been retired for some time now and I am not particularly an outdoor person, although I love nature. Huey-chang Hsi, class of 1953 of New Asia College, Hong Kong. 以下是我給奚先生說緣由的信 奚先生：很高興能和您聯絡上。 我是姚天平(姚拓)的朋友﹐也算是學生。是數十年前在馬來亞學生週報結的緣。去年回吉 隆坡見到了多年不曾聯絡的[姚哥]. 問起[生活營歌]的作者﹐他說你目前在灣區﹐所以才 興起和你聯絡的念頭﹐希望能把生活營歌的後續故事告訴您。 生活營歌如何和台灣一群登山的學生扯上關係﹐我是始作蛹者。其實我沒參加過金馬崙高 原的生活營﹐五十年代末期我生長在窮鄉僻壤的芙蓉城﹐還付不起二十元的報名費。聽曾 經參加過生活營的學長唱生活營歌﹐又羨慕又感動﹐這首扣人心弦的曲子就一直深藏在我 的心裡。高中畢業後﹐付不起星加坡工藝學院一百元的月費﹐只好坐船到台灣上大學。那 是六十年代初﹐我在台大登山社結識了一群熱愛大自然又喜歡在野外盡情高歌的年青人﹐ 我把許多南洋學生傳唱的歌謠帶給他們﹐其中一首就是生活營歌﹐我把它改名為 [我們生活在大自然裡] ﹐後來大家覺得再沒有一首曲子比它更能道出我們的登山情懷﹐就正式定為台大登山社的 社歌。就這樣﹐在馬來半島已成絕響的生活營歌﹐意外的在台灣重生﹐四十多年來代代相 傳﹐永遠活在無數登山人的心中﹐在台灣﹐在北美﹐在任何有台大登山夥伴的角落。 奚先生﹐謝謝你給我們留下這美好的旋律﹐希望有機會到灣區拜訪您。 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 原來社歌在1957年誕生的 明年不就是它的五十歲生日了！ 看完這個故事真感動 細想社歌歌詞，還有旋律，想起它漂洋過海而來在此生根 直到現在我們口中傳唱，成為共同的回憶 不可思議 一定要好好把社歌學好! --
