http://Sun-Sentinel.com By Ira Winderman | Sun-Sentinel.com 2:04 PM EDT, October 27, 2008 MIAMI - After months of rehabilitation on his troublesome left knee, a month with the U.S. national team at the Beijing Olympics, and then a month of training camp that included a week in Europe, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade nonetheless said he feels refreshed heading into Wednesday night's season opener against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. "I'm ready to go," the sixth-year guard said after Monday's practice at AmericanAirlines Arena. There had been concerns about Wade's knee after coach Erik Spoelstra held Wade out of Friday's exhibition finale in San Antonio against the Spurs. But Spoelstra said it was part of a well-planned strategy to have the team's scoring leader set for the start of the 82-game season. "He set the tone early in the camp, all the practices, didn't miss a turn… From a conditioning standpoint, you can see it that he's got his legs under him, he's healthy and also in mid-season form." Wade said his knee no longer is a concern. "I've been healthy for a whole summer," he said, having led the U.S. Olympic team in scoring on the way to the gold medal. "Coming into the season, I feel good and ready to go: Nothing to worry about right now, hopefully nothing to worry about any time soon." Spoelstra said there is no sense from the coaching staff about having to protect the knee. "Our training staff will always maintain him," he said. "He spends a lot of time doing his own work on that to make sure he's healthy. But he feels 100 percent great.
