"A very heavy block of mass 26 tons is to be supported by three
circular stell tubes. The three posts are supposed to have the
same height of 850mm. The outer diameter of the posts is of 290 mm
The factor of safety is 5. What is the thickness of the circular steel
tube post that you recommend
I don't really know how to get the answer, I used this method.
Load on each tube=(26*1000*9.81)/3=85020N
Critical Load=nP=5*85020=425kN
Assume E=200GPa
critical load=(2.046*(3.14)^2*E*I)/L^2
By I, then the thickness should be calculated.
But I get some rare value of t, what's wrong?
