With Dampier being shipped to Charlotte, the more agile and athletic Brendan Haywood, who signed a six-year, $55 million contract last month, takes over that distinction. Haywood averaged 8.1 points and 7.4 rebeounds during a somewhat strange 28 games with the Mavs in which he started off with consistent double-doubles, but then lost his starting job to Dampier. Prior to signing his deal, Haywood rejected the notion that he and Carlisle were at odds. Handling backup duties is a motivated Chandler, who is currently trying to make the Team USA squad that will compete in the FIBA World Championships later this month in Turkey. Chandler fell to the Mavs after Charlotte backed out of a deal that would have landed Chandler in Toronto. Health remains his big issues. Ankle injuries have forced him to miss close to 50 percent of the past two seasons. Mahinmi and Ajinca are both French projects. Ajinca is on the trading block, while Mahinmi will be the third center. Most likely to step up: Haywood has his money and long-term security. He'll be motivated to supply consistent play for a team he believes can be a contender. But, this category belongs to Chandler, who enters a contract season with plenty to prove. Injuries have slowed him considerably and there's plenty of doubt surrounding his ability to reclaim his 2007-08 form with New Orleans when he averaged 11.8 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.75 blocks a game, the only time in nine seasons that he averaged a double-double. He's off to a promising start with the Team USA and he's a strong candidate to make the squad, giving him an excellent chance to get his conditioning up to speed before entering training camp in October. Upon arriving in Dallas, he said he's fine with backing up Haywood, who was promised the starting job prior to signing his deal. But, if Chandler's feeling good and playing well, it could make for not only a strong duo, but also an interesting competition. Most likely to step back: Ajinca has been a major disappointment since being drafted with the 20th overall pick in 2008 by Charlotte. As soon as he arrived in Dallas in last month's trade, he was put on the trading block. With no takers yet, Ajinca could head into training camp on the roster. Entering his third NBA season, he is ineligible to be assigned to the Mavs' D-League team, so the Mavs could be stuck with a fourth center. 目前是預測Haywood將會先發 但是Chandler因為參加美國隊訓練營 整個暑假都在調整狀態 Chandler如果不受傷 預計狀態會不差 但這兩位問題就是易傷.. 下季中鋒的個人數據可以忽略 小牛隊很愛玩中鋒合體獸 這兩位應該能讓小牛維持48分鐘的禁區防守 這兩位應該是這十年來 小牛禁區最強的一季 不過還是老話 健康最重要 --
