HOWARD WEBSTER AWARDS, recognizing the most valuable players at each of the Club's minor league affiliated teams: IF KEVIN BARKER, OF ADAM LIND, OF RYAN PATTERSON, LHP CHI-HUNG CHENG, IF SCOTT CAMPBELL, OF TRAVIS SNIDER and LHP LUIS PEREZ. These award winners will be saluted at a special luncheon and in on-field ceremonies at ROGERS CENTRE on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23. LIND (Auburn - 2004, Dunedin - 2005 & New Hampshire - 2006) becomes just the third player in the history of the organization to win three or more WEBSTER AWARDS, joining infielders CARLOS DELGADO (St. Catharines - 1990, Dunedin - 1992 & Knoxville - 1993) and LUIS LOPEZ (Hagerstown - 1997, Knoxville - 1998, Syracuse - 1999 & 2001). PATTERSON (Auburn - 2005 & Dunedin - 2006) becomes the 21st player in BLUE JAYS history to win two or more awards. The rest are all first-time winners. The following capsule profiles include combined full-season statistics for LIND and PATTERSON who each played on more than one level in the 2006 season. KEVIN BARKER - .275, 18 HR & 76 RBI Syracuse SkyChiefs - International League (AAA) The 31-year-old first baseman established a new SkyChiefs record and led the International League with 39 doubles, while ranking third overall in the league with 59 extra base hits. He also became the first player in Syracuse history to record six hits in a single game, banging out two homers, two doubles and a pair of singles on May 17 against Ottawa. BARKER led Syracuse with 227 total bases, 18 home runs, 76 RBI, a .480 slugging percentage and a .379 on base percentage. The 6-3, 200 lb. native of Bristol, Virginia was selected to the International League All-Star roster for this year's Triple A All-Star Game. ADAM LIND - .330, 24 HR & 89 RBI New Hampshire Fisher Cats - Eastern League (AA) LIND was selected as the Class AA Eastern League's MVP, in spite of spending the final month of the season in Syracuse. At the time of his promotion, the 23-year-old outfielder led the league with 19 home runs, 71 RBI, 43 extra base hits and a .543 slugging percentage, while ranking second overall with a .310 batting average (in 91 games played). LIND, who was Toronto's third round pick in the 2004 draft, was selected as both a midseason and postseason Eastern League All-Star. In 34 games in Syracuse, he batted .394 with five homers and 18 RBI before being called up to Toronto. RYAN PATTERSON - .278, 25 HR & 88 RBI Dunedin Blue Jays - Florida State League (A Advanced) PATTERSON led the Florida State League this season with a .520 slugging percentage. He earned a promotion to New Hampshire after batting .286 with 19 home runs and 68 RBI in 84 games with Dunedin, leading the team to the first half West Division title. The 5-11, 205 lb. native of Metairie, Louisiana was selected to participate in the Florida State League All-Star Game and won the league's Home Run Derby. A fourth round draft pick in 2005, PATTERSON finished second in the Blue Jays organization with 25 home runs, a number exceeded only by his New Hampshire teammate Chip Cannon with 27. CHI-HUNG CHENG - 11-5, 2.70 ERA Lansing Lugnuts - Midwest League (A) CHENG stood as the ace of a Lugnuts team that advanced to the semifinals of the Midwest League. The 21-year-old pitcher from Kaohsiung City, Taiwan ranked third in the league with 154 strikeouts and sixth overall with a 2.70 ERA. He also led the Lugnuts pitching staff with 11 wins, 143.1 innings pitched and 28 starts. The 6-0, 190 lb. left-hander was tagged with just one loss in his last 17 starts of the season, including one start in the playoffs. SCOTT CAMPBELL - .292 & 18 RBI Auburn Doubledays - New York-Penn League (A) A tenth round selection in the June 2006 draft, CAMPBELL led Auburn to its fifth consecutive Pinckney Division championship batting .292. His .397 on base percentage, ranking third in the New York-Penn League was helped by the fact he walked more frequently (33) than he struck out (31). The 5-11, 190 lb. infielder from Gonzaga University led the Doubledays with 70 hits and 39 runs scored, while ranking second on the Club with 14 doubles. Now a resident of Murietta, California, Campbell stands as the first native New Zealander ever selected in Major League Baseball's draft. TRAVIS SNIDER - .325, 11 HR & 41 RBI Pulaski Blue Jays - Appalachian League (Rookie Advanced) Toronto's first round pick in the June 2006 draft was selected as the Appalachian League's Player of the Year. He ranked among the league leaders in each of the three Triple Crown categories - 6th with a .325 batting average, 2nd with 11 home runs and 5th with 41 RBI - while finishing first overall with a .567 slugging percentage. The 6-0, 230 lb. native of Mill Creek, Washington was the 14th choice overall in the draft. LUIS PEREZ - 4-0, 1.38 ERA Dominican Summer League The 6-0, 160 lb. left-handed pitcher posted a 4-0 record with a 1.38 ERA in 14 starts with Toronto's entry in the Dominican Summer League. The 21-year-old struck out 107 batters in 85.0 innings pitched. Other Webster winners on Toronto's current Major League roster include ROY HALLADAY (Dunedin - 1996), GUSTAVO CHACIN (Medicine Hat - 1999), REED JOHNSON (Hagerstown - 2000), ALEX RIOS (New Haven - 2003) and AARON HILL (New Hampshire, 2004). --
