Good evening, I am TICAD Honorary Ambassador MISIA. （こんばんは。ご紹介をいただきました名誉大使のMISIAです。） This is the seventh TICAD. So, I’d like to talk about my seven encounters in Africa. （今回のTICADは7回目。そこで、アフリカと私の7つの出会いをお話します。） The first is the SOUL MUSIC. African music is what has influenced me the most. （１つ目はソウルミュージックとの出会い。私はアフリカンミュージックに大きな影響 を受けてきました。） The second is the countries. In 2007 I visited Kenya and since then I’ve been to many countries. “Those who drink the water of Africa will return”, well, that is definitely me! （２つ目は、アフリカの国々。2007年に初めてケニアを訪れて以降、様々な国を訪ねま した。 「アフリカの水を飲んだ者は再びアフリカを訪れる」という言葉がありますが、まさに 私のことですね！） The third is the vibrant culture and fashion. （３つ目は、色彩豊かな文化やファッションとの出会い。） The fourth is the messages from the people. It is said that “Wherever there is music, there is never any fighting”. Singing together is a prayer for peace. （４つ目は、人々から受け取るメッセージ。 アフリカで聞いた言葉に「音楽があるところに戦いはない」というものがあります。歌 い合うことは平和を祈り合うことです。） The fifth is the children and education. I’ve been supporting education for eleven years. A girl once told me “I learned a lot. It can’t be stolen.” Learning is an asset. （5つ目は、子どもと教育との出会い。 私は子どもたちの教育支援は11年続けています。ある少女は言いました。「学んだこと は盗まれない」と。学びは財産です。） The sixth is the power of the music. I’d like to do a live show with the theme of Africa. I’m the chair of a group called mudef, the “MUSIC DESIGN FOUNDATION”. I believe that we can make a better society through music and art. （６つ目は、音楽の力。アフリカがテーマのライヴを開催したいと思っています。 私も理事を務める団体の名はmudef。「MUSIC DESIGN FOUNDATION」です。音楽とアート は社会をよりよくしていくと信じています。） And the seventh is TICAD. There is an Africa proverb, “Mountains don’t meet, people do”. I think this is the message that we are meeting and building relations. （そして最後の７つ目は、TICAD。アフリカに「山と山は会えないが、人と人は会うこ とができる」という諺があります。 私たちは出会い、関係を築いていく、というメッセージに聞こえます） Life is going on and on.
