To accomplish this, The Ladies of The View invited Nick Cannon to the show to talk about the "leaked" camera-phone footage from American Idol auditions, in which his wife Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj got into a row. At the end of the row, Carey told The View den mother Babs Walters last week (who reported it on the talk show) Minaj was heard, as she walked away, saying if she were armed she'd "shoot the [b----]." This story's been so scoffed at even Carey's husband has joined the Publicity Stunt school. "I believe it was real to the extent of it actually happened," Cannon told The Ladies of The View Wednesday. "But if you ask my opinion - I've produced tons of television -- I don't know how anybody... could stand with a camera phone right in front of the monitor and record it and nobody say anything, and it just magically gets on TMZ," he added. He even pooh-poohed his wife's call to Babs to tell the ABC News veteran she was hiring extra security for herself and her twins, who were traveling with her during auditions for the competition series. "People give you advice and say, 'You should probably do this, and you should probably do that.' I don't think it's as serious as everybody’s making it," he said. Joy Behar, who was not yet willing to throw in the towel, asked Cannon, if the two judges continue to feud, would one of them have to leave the show. "I have no idea. I hope not. They both getting paper!" Cannon gushed. "Would you leave for that amount of money? Slap me, kick me, do whatever - just give me my $18 million.
