相當受球迷愛戴的前利物浦球員Luis Garcia宣布退役.
現年35歲的他自2004年8月從巴塞隆納加盟後在紅軍效力了三個賽季.
他加入球隊後迅速受到球迷的喜愛,
球迷傳頌屬於他的歌曲並且在2007年7月他離開利物浦後仍然支持他.
這位充滿靈氣的前鋒在121次為紅軍上陣的比賽中射入了30球,
其中包括在球隊前往伊斯坦堡奪下第五座歐冠冠軍的征途中,
在淘汰賽階段對尤文圖斯和切爾西的進球.
Garcia paid special tribute to Liverpool,
and those who have continuously supported him,
as he bode farewell to the game: "[Thanks] to Liverpool FC,
for making me pass through the history of international football and be part
of the Red family, forever.
"To each and every one of the people over 17 years of [my] career that have
been with me, have helped me and supported me at every stage I have lived,
and although not mentioned one by one,
I will be forever grateful."
Garcia's honours at Liverpool included a UEFA Champions League winners'
medal, a runner-up finish in the 2006-7 edition of the prestigious
tournament, as well as winning the FA Cup (2005-6),
UEFA Super Cup (2005) and the 2006 Community Shield.
