Therefore, those who have studied linguistics at higher education, especially, English teachers may wonder how they are useful for education. A majority of English teachers in Taiwan wonder how linguistic theories can guide them and be actually utilized in the English classroom. In the upcoming conference, we invite four outstanding domestic linguists, who are also excellent teachers in their different fields, i.e. syntax, phonetics, language acquisition, and sociolinguistics, to illustrate to us how linguistic knowledge of each of their fields can be of great assistance when we need theoretic support in teaching.
