Designer Diane von Furstenberg - president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America - revealed the shortlist for the 10th annual awards which are set to take place on June 6th at New York's Lincoln Center on June 6. But while America waits anxiously to see which US designers will take home prizes, there is already double cause for British celebration, with two of the major awards already set to return to the UK. Phoebe Philo, creative director of Céline will receive the International Award for best fashion designer outside the US, while our own Daily Telegraph fashion director, Hilary Alexander, has been honored with the special Eugenia Sheppard Award for media - awarded to a 'writer, photographer, or editor who has used his or her craft to further the profession of fashion reporting and coverage.' Face of the year Lady Gaga is being recognised with the Fashion Icon Award, while the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, are shortlisted for the Up-and-Coming Talent Award alongside Joseph Altuzarra and Prabal Gurung. Marc Jacobs can take it easy on the night though, as win or lose the womenswear award, the creative director of the Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and Marc by Marc Jacobs labels, will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
