Details have yet to emerge on the monetary value of the contract but, considering the lack of exceptions remaining, it would theoretically be a minimum contract. Mullens averaged 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field, for the Charlotte Bobcats last season. In the 41 games he started, his averages increased to 11.7 points and 7.0 rebounds. Mullens found himself in former head coach Mike Dunlap’s doghouse towards the end of the season last year thanks to his ineptitude on the defensive end and his propensity to shoot an unnecessary percentage of his shots from outside the arc. In other words, he’s a seven-foot tall chucker that doesn’ t play a great deal of defense. In theory, Mullens could be good. He’s athletic, mobile, young and tall. And though he needs to go inside more, the Ohio State product does have a decent stroke.
