Mobley Is Pulled After Ankle Sprain By Jason Reid, Times Staff Writer March 24, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Guard Cuttino Mobley is sidelined indefinitely after suffering a sprained right ankle in Thursday's 95-85 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The injury occurred with 7 minutes 16 seconds remaining in the second quarter when Mobley missed a shot and landed awkwardly on the foot of Memphis guard Mike Miller. Mobley was removed at the 6:40 mark and did not return. "Mike Miller was beneath me when I came down, and I guess I stepped on his foot, but I'm not one to sit out," said Mobley, who had two points. "It's sore right now, but I've sprained my ankle a whole bunch of times." Team trainer Jasen Powell said Mobley would be reevaluated today. "We're going to do some range-of-motion stuff and try to control the swelling," Powell said. "He's had this type of injury before, so he knows what to do." --------------------------------------------------------------------- Center Chris Kaman had a rough trip. He failed to score in double figures in the three games and was often ineffective on defense, although he did have 11 rebounds in Thursday's loss. "The teams we played were all pretty decent teams," said Kaman, who averages 11.4 points and 9.4 rebounds. "We could have beat them all, but we just didn't play well this trip. It seems like we tried to pick it up too late on this trip. "We have lapses where we don't concentrate on what we need to concentrate on," swingman Corey Maggette said. "We just have to be better at that. "If not, we're just going to continue to slip. We shouldn't settle for just making the playoffs." --------------------------------------------------------------------- Memphis' Miller, considered among the NBA's best sixth men, scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. The Clippers were impressed. "Mike Miller has been on fire," Maggette said.
