: 請問以下四個「律師」的英文單字有什麼差別(或英美不同習慣用法)?
: 1. attorney [at law]
A practitioner in a court of law who is legally qualified to prosecute
and defend actions in such court on the retainer of clients.
: 2. barrister
A lawer who has the right of speaking, arguing and pleading in a British
higher court.
: 3. counselor (counsellor)
A person gives advice in law and manages cases for clients in court.
: 4. lawyer
PLUS 5.solicitor
In British, a kind of lawyer who gives advice, appears in lower courts,
and prepares cases for a BARRISTER to argue in a high court.

【In American English】 A lawyer is often called a counsellor / counselor.
If he or she speaks in court, was called an attorney.
【In British English】 A lawyer who speaks in court is called a barrister.
A solicitor works mainly from an office, but may also
appear in the less formal and important courts.
