H&K clinched the top spot in Marketing’s inaugural Agency of the Year award in 2005. That was the first time that such a comprehensive survey had been done in Singapore. Last year, H&K came in second. Jimmy Tay, chief executive, Southeast Asia, H&K, said the double accolade was especially gratifying because the magazine had polled 11,958 marketing professionals from client companies and agencies. The accolade would not have been possible without their support and faith in Hill & Knowlton.” He added, “To be able to celebrate this achievement in our 80th anniversary year adds icing to the cake.” The magazine noted that it has been a bountiful year for H&K. Marketing said H&K did not lose any major accounts but picked up a cluster of new ones such as Heineken, Sony Ericsson, HSBC, 3Com, A*STAR, AMP Capital Investors, Coutts, Merck, State Street and TSAO Foundation. H&K also beefed up its team in Singapore in 2007, with the appointment of Eddie Toh, former deputy news editor of The Business Times, as director of corporate strategy; Farah Abdul Rahim, former broadcast journalist at Channel NewsAsia, as associate director; and Kit Chan, veteran in the Asian arts and entertainment scene, as campaign specialist.
