JJ Lam had earlier announced that he would challenge the world record in the northern Chinese municipality of Tianjin, where he would be promoting his latest album West Side. Spurred on by this challenge, JJ Lam was very excited when the date of 22 July 2007 was set for the record attempt and all planning coordinated by Tianjin Rollingrock Electronic Audio CD Ltd. Corporation. The day arrived - as did a huge crowd over 3,000 fans - all waiting to get their new CD (published by Ocean Butterflies Music Co Ltd.) signed by the singer, and in doing so helping their idol achieve his record-breaking quest! The signing session started at 1.30 p.m. in a shopping mall now swarming with JJ Lam’s fans - including those who had travelled from Beijing, as well as more local followers from Tianjin. The atmosphere was amazing and JJ Lam kicked-off the signing at an incredible pace and did not stop until he was sure he had set a Guinness World Record! After 2 hr 29 min of intense activity, JJ Lam had autographed a staggering 3,052 CD’s - equivalent to 20 CD’s per minute! In doing so, he smashed the previous record of 2,852 autographs in eight hours. The official adjudicator in China, Angela Wu, was delighted to announce another Guinness World Record and presented an excited JJ Lam with the official record certificate. 03 August 2007 --
