Tsuboi is one of the favourites to land a spot as a starting central defender
in Zico’s 2006 FIFA World Cup squad. Proved his mettle for his country in
the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup and tagged along as an unused reserve in the
2005 edition. Has lightning speed and good marking skills, which he will need
in a tough group featuring Brazil, Croatia and Australia.
坪井慶介被認為有很大機會在今年世界盃中先發擔任右中後衛。在 2003 年聯合會盃中
以他熱情、堅持、毅力的表現證明他有實力在國家隊立足，但 2005 年聯合會盃時卻沒
機會上場而自此被貼上「不會被使用的替補」標籤。他擁有耀人的速度優勢，和亮眼的
個人技巧，或許在世界盃中面對巴西、澳大利亞、克羅埃西亞時，他有機會憑藉自己的
優點搶到先發位置，拿掉身上不名譽的標籤。
