Endo is a defensive midfielder who was one of the key components in the
Japanese side that finished runners-up at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Cham-
pionship. It took him until 2003 to break through at full international
level. In the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup, he filled in admirably for
Shinji Ono and has been one of the leading deputies for a midfield position
ever since. Gifted with ample skill and a good work ethic, Endo was the
midfield dynamo during Gamba Osaka’s 2005 league-winning campaign.
遠藤保仁在日本史無前例奪得 1999 年世界青年錦標賽亞軍的球隊中扮演非常關鍵性的
防守中場角色。但進入職業世界後直到 2003 年他才真正破繭而出，開始代表日本成年
組國家隊出賽。在 2003 年聯合會盃中，他成功地取代因傷無法參與賽事的小野伸二的
功能與角色，也從此牢牢佔據日本國家代表隊裡的中場席位。擁有非常出色的技術以及
良好的踢球態度，絕對是能夠引起化學作用的好球員。去年他良好的表現率領大阪飛腳
奪得日本聯賽冠軍。
