Inter are believed to be ready to sell Marco Materazzi to Villarreal
if they receive Juan Roman Riquelme as part of the deal.
The Spanish outfit are keen on the 2006 World Cup player and
are understood to have made an official approach.
However, their proposed swoop has been complicated by
the Nerazzurri's desire to sign their Argentine ace.
Having lost Juan Sebastian Veron, who has returned to
his first club Estudiantes, the Nerazzurri see Riquelme as his heir.
But Villarreal, who have also been paired with Inter's Nicolas Burdisso,
are not keen on the idea of losing the star who was so crucial
in their Champions League push last term.
Meanwhile, the list of clubs interested in Materazzi continues
to grow according to reports around Europe.
Fiorentina, Lazio, Atletico Madrid, Newcastle, Tottenham and
Blackburn are all pondering a move for him.
“I'll be meeting with Inter in the next few days to discuss his future,”
the stopper's agent, Claudio Signorelli, stated.
“The player has a lot of options in front of him.”
Materazzi has said that he won't discuss his future
until after the World Cup, but is expected to leave after
failing to win the faith of boss Roberto Mancini.
