......雖然有點厚臉皮，今天剛好是要寄writing task給同學的日子，附上我這禮拜的文 章，懇請好心的版友如果可以的話請不吝指教<(_ _)> Topic: When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree and disagree with this opinion? -- With technology extensively progressing, cities have developed in such short period nowadays and have led to massive changes to people’s daily life. Some argues in a pessimistic tone that many old virtues which inherited from ancestors are forgotten and replaced by the more convenient and modern way. I do not agree with this statement. It is true that in the process of pursuing new technology, some old skills we used disappeared due to they are not suitable in the modern world any longer. However, what new technology brings to the society is not only the destruction to the originals but also maintenance of the spirit of traditions. As people pursuing a better quality of living, some useful technologies are brought and also have lent a hand on preserving the old. For instance, it is so hard to teach the young generation of aboriginals their mother tongue before since they do not have their own ways of writing. As more aboriginal people move into the cities, fewer people can speak in their own language and tell their own stories. Nonetheless, the establishment of aboriginal channel by the government let their stories can be widely spread and easily be learnt by the next generation. Expending new road came along with the development of city. People who are brought up in the city used to be isolated from the world that living in a traditional way due to the distance. But thanks to the technology, newly-constructed road as well as internet has connected the new and the old close than ever before. People can visit their grandparents more frequently and safely and therefore can learn from their wisdom like how to cook a traditional cuisine or how to make some craft works. Definition of ‘keeping alive’ varied when it comes to tradition preserving. Technology was invented by human ourselves to improve our welfare, and it can also breath in the new life to the old traditions. That is, thanks to the technology, people now can apply or learn the meaning of old wisdoms and appreciate them further. It is the modern way of keeping old things alive in my perspective as well.
