Juande Ramos was pleased on two fronts after Darren Bent's winner against Wisla Krakow in the UEFA Cup. First and foremost, the striker's towering header secured our first competitive victory of the campaign at the fifth attempt. Secondly, and most importantly in terms of making progress in the UEFA Cup, it handed us a valuable 2-1 lead in the first round clash with the second leg to follow in Poland on Thursday, October 2. Bent rose impressively to power home his header from substitute Fraizer Campbell's pinpoint cross with 17 minutes remaining to make it three goals in three matches. It might have been four in three and a bigger margin of victory on the night but for a linesman's flag denying him in the second half - Bent looked in an onside position to tap home Jermaine Jenas' cross but it wasn't to be. Nevertheless, a win was just what the doctor ordered with David Bentley also on target, a sweetly-struck curler in the first half. "We wanted more than a one-goal lead but it wasn't to be," reflected Juande at the Lane. "The tie is evenly-balanced but that second goal gives us a little advantage. "It was important to win because we'll be the away team in the second leg and it will be a difficult game in Poland. "We were in a bit of a bad run of results and we needed a win in order to give confidence and calmness to the team. This should help the team grow in confidence. "Let's just hope that this will start a positive run leading to more positive results." Meanwhile, Juande was happy with substitute Campbell's debut and first contribution in a Spurs shirt. "I thought he put in a magnificent performance.
