Heurelho Gomes enjoyed every minute of his White Hart Lane debut against AS Roma on Sunday - even though he had little to do in our 5-0 victory. For the Brazilian, who joined us from PSV Eindhoven earlier this summer, the reception he received from his new fans was more than enough to send him home happy. Gomes established a great rapport with fans in Holland, and further stressed the importance of having a similar relationship with the White Hart Lane faithful. And even though the focus during pre-season has been on the form of the team's attacking players, our goalkeeper insists staying focused at the other end is just as important. He said: "The fans at The Lane are like an extra man for the team, which is very important for us. I enjoyed playing in front of them. "As with my time at PSV, I play my football with the fans and for the fans, and the atmosphere in the stadium was great. "The team played very well, and that includes the defence, but I am quite happy to stay in my goal and be there to stop balls when required.
