Spurs forged ahead courtesy of Dimitar Berbatov's close-range effort, but the Latics bagged a point thanks to Emile Heskey's low drive shortly after. Poyet was pleased with Spurs' overall performance considering the blustery conditions and playing surface the team faced in the North West. "We started well. We scored and were in control, passing wise. Their goal equaliser maybe came too quickly for us," said Poyet. "Most of the people here didn't expect such a good game of football, because of the wind and surface. We have to be proud of the 22 players on the pitch, because they did well. "We've been playing well lately in the first half. I know how many times we've gone in front, but we can't keep clean sheets. "We have to be quite pleased as it was a good performance. I think it was enjoyable. I didn't expect to be so cold and enjoying football." With the end of the season approaching Poyet knows the rumour mill will be in full swing shortly, although he hopes Spurs keep hold of their key players this summer, including Berbatov. "I know in three weeks' time people will start talking about every player at Tottenham.
