Spurs enjoyed a greater share of possession and created the better chances in the first period, but went in level at the break after Dimitar Berbatov had equalised a controversial strike from Stephen Hunt. Reading were slightly more adventurous in the second period but it still came as a surprise when Hunt grabbed an equaliser after Berbatov had given Spurs the lead from the spot. The two sides will now have to do it all over again in the replay at the Madejski Stadium, a game which Poyet feels his side should have avoided. "The first 45 minutes were excellent," he told Sky Sports. "We created many, many chances and if the game had finished at half-time 3-0 or 4-0 it would have been no surprise. "Unfortunately in the end we did not score as many as we should have." Paul Robinson had a day to forget in the Spurs goal, carrying Hunt's tame free-kick over his own line for the first and parrying a Leroy Lita effort straight to the winger's feet for the second. Despite the individual mistakes though Spurs boss Juande Ramos believes that the whole side must take the blame for their failure to progress at the first time of asking. "It's the team that lets in goals. Sometimes it's the responsibility of one player or another but at the end of the day the team concedes the goal," the Spaniard said. "We've got a squad of 20-odd players and we have to look at them all and how they play.
