新聞來源 - BBC Ramos determined to keep Berbatov Tottenham coach Juande Ramos says he wants to keep star striker Dimitar Berbatov at the club. Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev told BBC Sport on Monday that the 26-year-old was happy at Spurs but would be interested in a move to "a big club". The Bulgarian has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United during the January transfer window. But Ramos said: "We are happy because we have the player on a contract, and we plan to keep him." The Spaniard admitted he was considering strengthening his defence after seeing his side concede two sloppy goals from set-pieces in a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa on New Year's Day. "We are lacking in some defensive departments, and it is something we need to look at. We are paying for lapses," said Ramos. "We need to find a solution to our defensive problems. If we can't sort the problems out with the players we already have here, we will look outside for other players." Dantchev said he had spoken to chairman Daniel Levy about Berbatov's future. "Dimitar wants to fulfil his potential and win trophies now," said Dantchev. Berbatov scored 22 goals in his first season at White Hart Lane, and so far this campaign he has netted another 11, including four in the 6-4 win over Reading on Saturday. "His performances for the club are a testament to his commitment to the fans and his team-mates," Dantchev told The Sun newspaper on Monday. "Fans must understand time is running out for him to play for a club that can match his ambition. "I would like to stress this is not about money. This is about sporting ambition.
