The Iceland international was expected to leave White Hart Lane to join a club in Scandinavia, but Spurs have decided to exercise their option to keep the 22-year-old. "I am shocked that Tottenham decided to use the option to keep me," Hallfredsson told Morgenbladid. "I had hoped to continue my career in Scandinavia from this summer on." Norwegian club Viking are reported to have been interested in Hallfredsson, but may be unable to land their man. "We might get a wide player, but everything depends on availability and price," sporting director Egil Ostenstad said to Aftenposten. Viking are also thought to be keen on Charlton youngster Rurik Gislason. The 19-year-old midfielder has been given permission to leave The Addicks in the summer. "Several Norwegian clubs are interested in Rurik.
