Robbie Keane reported no adverse reaction to his playing comeback against Cardiff last weekend and hopes to be in the frame for involvement against Newcastle on Sunday. The striker missed eight games following the knee injury he sustained shortly after scoring the winner against Middlesbrough in early December, giving him a rare, but unwanted Christmas off. He came on for the final minutes of the FA Cup stalemate at Ninian Park and is now targeting lengthier run-outs in the coming weeks. "Everything was fine thankfully and I am now just looking forward to the games coming up," he chirped. There was one man none too keen on Robbie taking to the pitch in South Wales. Cardiff boss Dave Jones jokingly attempted to prevent him stepping forward when it was time to make his entry into the Cup tie. "Dave was having a bit of banter with me!" laughed Robbie. "I've met him on numerous occasions from going to Wolves to watch my mate Matt Murray and know him from there. "When I was warming up he was saying 'oh, you're not coming on' and 'don't come on' then when I was stepping up to the pitch he was pulling me back. It was all light hearted banter which was a bit of fun. "I saw him afterwards, I was walking past his office and Glenn Hoddle was in there as well so I went to say hello. I was chatting to Dave for a while about Stephen McPhail and how he is getting on because he is one of my best mates. "The most important thing from that game was for us not to lose and that was the case. At home we fancy our chances against anybody," he continued, before expressing his wish to put one over some old friends when Newcastle come to town this weekend. "It will be nice to see Shay, I'm not sure if Carry and Duffer are fit at the moment.
