However, a Premier League spokesman has now clarified the situation, explaining that Jol had simply been asked not to interfere. "He was not sent off. The referee just asked him to stand away," he said. In a bad-tempered match, Blackburn midfielder Tugay had earlier seen red for a foul on Ghaly.
