Jol hails Berbatov Tottenham coach Martin Jol was full of praise for Dimitar Berbatov following Spurs' 2-0 Uefa Cup win over Besiktas. The Bulgaria international striker was a constant thorn for Spurs in Istanbul and capped a fine display with a superb goal. After being set free by Robbie Keane, Berbatov skipped past a defender before rounding the keeper and netting. Jol was always confident his side would come good if his strike force found their form following a difficult start to the season. "Berbatov showed some flashes of his quality," explained Jol. "Berbatov is the extra quality we have up front. "We've always said if our strikers can make a difference then we will be a good team. "It was a terrific goal and hopefully it will break the spell as we have struggled to score this season." Jol was also full of praise for his backline, which, in truth, never looked like conceding to Besiktas on Thursday. "Our defence was excellent as well," he added. "We were too strong to concede goals. "If we score goals as well then that makes us tough to beat. "I'm very satisfied with the three points.
