Belgian starlet set for Spurs Belgian starlet Sven Verdonck is on his way to Tottenham from Genk. The 18-year-old defender has long been regarded as one of Belgium's hottest prospects and Spurs now look set to seal his signature. Verdonck was given permission to talk with Spurs earlier this month and he has already agreed terms on a four-year contract. Tottenham and Genk expect to complete talks in the coming week and Verdonck will almost certainly be in North London for pre-season. Verdonck, who has played just nine first team games with Genk, rejected a move to England earlier in his career when Aston Villa were one of a host of clubs who tried to land him - but at that point he decided to remain in Belgium. "PSV [Eindhoven], Cologne, NAC Breda, Roda, Twente and Aston Villa were in contact, but I had no interest in a transfer as I was happy in Genk," he said. Spurs have now, though, managed to persuade Verdonck that his future is best served across The Channel and his move should be sealed in the near future. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cole closing on Spurs switch Chelsea striker Carlton Cole is set join Tottenham for 2 million. The 22-year-old striker has struggled for regular football amongst Chelsea's galaxy of stars and Blues boss Jose Mourinho recently admitted that he would be allowed to leave if the right offer came in. Cole is desperate to further his career and was unlikely to do so at Stamford Bridge, particularly with The Blues tipped to seal the capture of Andrei Shevchenko this summer. He now looks set to join Martin Jol's ambitious side on a four-year deal after visiting the club's training ground on Friday. Spurs have already snapped up Dimitar Berbatov for 11 million, but are determined to bolster their squad further in an attempt to break into the top four next term. Their search for another striker was given extra impetus by the news that Egyptian forward Mido will return to Roma next season. Meanwhile, Tottenham have extended the deals of four promising academy graduates. Midfielder Charlie Daniels has signed a new two-year contract, while defender Charlie Lee, goalkeeper Tommy Forecast and striker Andy Barcham have also penned new deals.
