新聞來源 - Skysport Reid hits out at Eriksson Tottenham winger Andy Reid has hit out at Jermain Defoe's exclusion from the England squad for the World Cup finals. The former West Ham striker has been a part of Sven Goran Eriksson's plans for some time but was left out in favour of untried Arsenal rookie Theo Walcott. Although on the stand-by list and expected to feature in the live Sky Sports England B encounter with Belarus on Thursday, Defoe must be puzzled as to why he has been overlooked. Charlton's Darren Bent was thought to be the man pushing the 23-year-old for his spot but Walcott has enjoyed a remarkable rise to stardom. Republic of Ireland international Reid is bemused by Eriksson's selection policy. "I can't believe it, to be honest with you," he told Sky Sports News. "I think it's ridiculous, actually to be honest. "I know I'm probably not the person to be questioning anybody's decisions but I just find it really hard to believe." Ireland take on Chile in a friendly, live on Sky Sports 1, on Wednesday night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reid denies move talk Tottenham midfielder Andy Reid has denied reports that he will leave the North Londoners in the summer. The Republic of Ireland international was only on the fringes of the action as Spurs finished the season in fifth place after agonisingly being pipped by rivals Arsenal for the UEFA Champions League slot on the last day of the season. Nevertheless, the former Nottingham Forest man is determined to get over that disappointment and continue his career at White Hart Lane. "I'm a Tottenham player," he told Sky Sports News. "I've got four years left on my contract. "There's no reason why I would want to go anywhere else. "I don't think there will be a lot in and a lot out. "I think we'll bring in a couple of quality players who will add to the squad but I wouldn't imagine there will be wholesale changes." Reid admits the lack of Champions League football with Spurs next season has caused the players a lot of frustration. "Everybody knows the Champions League is the place to be," he explained. "It's what everyone is striving for but, if you had given us where we finished at the start of the season, we'd have grabbed it.
