新聞來源 - Sky Sports Jol praises professional Spurs Martin Jol lauded his young Spurs team after they saw off Birmingham 2-0 on Saturday. Aaron Lennon notched the first Premiership goal of what promises to be a long and productive career, while centre half Michael Dawson turned in a faultless performance at the heart of the Tottenham defence. "It was a fine win," declared a happy Spurs boss. "I think we did a professional job. We didn't play that well, but it was a scrappy game. "Second half I thought we did well and I was very pleased - especially with the younger players. Lennon scored his first goal - he showed great composure with his left foot and he's doing that in training. I was very pleased with them." The big Dutchman was particularly pleased that his side pressed on in search of a two-goal buffer after William Gallas's last minute wonder strike denied them a share of the spoils against Chelsea last Saturday. "It is always important if you score two goals - [then] you can make the odd mistake," he continued. "They [Chelsea] punished us because we only scored one goal, but you shouldn't forget that this year we've come back a lot of times. "The only thing is that for the last six weeks or month we've thrown away points - Chelsea scored a great goal, I can't complain, but this is exactly what we needed to do. We had to back to winning games and that is exactly what we did." As well as being on course for their first top six finish in fifteen years, Spurs are still in pole position ahead of their North London rivals Arsenal as they race for the prize of a place in the UEFA Champions League next season. And, although he has admitted it will be a tough task to hold onto the present league position, Jol is adamant that his charges can battle their way onto the European campaign trail. "We've always believed it is possible but you have to grab the points," he added.
