The Tottenham shot-stopper has been in outstanding form between the sticks this season, and his coach will be hoping that he is at his best when he faces Premiership leaders Chelsea, live in front of the PremPlus cameras on Saturday lunchtime. Having experienced severe goalkeeping problems over the past few years, Spurs now seem to have found a talent fit to emerge from the long shadows cast by former international legends Pat Jennings and Ray Clemence. The name of the former Leeds United man is always one of the first to go on Sven Goran Eriksson's England teamsheet, and the Tottenham boss reckons Germany will provide the perfect stage for him to show the world just how good he is. "In Germany you will see exactly what the situation is," declared Jol. "Even abroad they will get to know him. "He's a regular in England. Every game we play the fans are singing about England's number one and maybe that's why he is getting stronger and stronger mentally." While his Stamford Bridge counterpart, Petr Cech, has been getting all the plaudits this season, Jol is adamant that Robinson is every bit as good, declaring: "He is a great talent and he is of the same quality as Petr Cech at Chelsea." Robinson has made 37 appearances for club and country this season, keeping a clean sheet in a fraction under a third of all the games he has started, and it is this form that has convinced Jol he is the best keeper on the entire continent. He continued: "In Holland they reckon that Edwin van der Sar is the best keeper in Europe. Van der Sar is very experienced but Paul is very versatile, athletic and strong. He has got charisma and his reflexes are second to none. "He is very critical about himself and that is probably his main quality. He's not perfect but nobody is.
