http://www.henin-hardenne.be/bin/index.asp?lang=en CHARLESTON: That Winning Feeling! 12/04/2006 Justine won the first match of her clay court season on Tuesday night over Austria's Sybille Bammer 6-2 6-3 in 1 hr 20 minutes, and glided into the third round. Belgian tennis virtuoso will play her next match on Thursday against the winner of the Karolina Sprem versus Jamea Jackson 2nd rounder. After a lull of match wins in Henin-Hardenne standards at Indian Wells, and Miami, in Charleston, on green clay that holds dear memories; Justine found her cues quickly. A struggle from 1-2 down in the first set stoked the fire in her, and she never looked back. Two breakpoints later on the Bammer service game, and the queen of clay was at the lead with 4-2. More debonair clay court sliding moves later, trademark stern pressure returns, and holding her own serves it ended 6-2 in 41 minutes. Double faults aside, Justine is still in her warm-up phase of clay court tennis. Her eagerness overwhelmed Bammer with a quick 3-0 lead, nonetheless in the second set, the Austrian finally got a grip of her own service games. Bammer caught up from 4-1 down to level the score at 4-3. But, with a solid 63% of first serves now being played Justine corrected her Double faults to finish the set on 6-3 in 39 minutes. Final score: 6-2 6-3 A nice opening match for the Belgian champion. It's a reassurance of her winning ways to feel alive, and move with clay. In each round Justine will try to add more elements, and polish as she progresses to her ultimate destination. On Thursday she'll be facing another unknown turn as she will meet either Jamea Jackson or Karolina Sprem; two players she's never played before.
