Against a consistent healthy Flavia Pennetta; Justine lacked fitness, match toughness, and shot direction. The Italian has her day 4-6 3-6 The first set started out well for Justine with easy, and steady service holds. The Filderstadt surface demands solid serves; which up until 3-3 Justine was able to do. From here on the Belgian doublefaulted, and let Pennetta take the first big break of the set 0-40, and 3-4. The lack of tournament matches were fairly obvious when again, Justine was unable to hold her service games, nor break the Italian's. She did try to head to net; but only found herself stranded by a lob from Pennetta. The poor service games, and rusty on court awareness by Justine left this first set to it's only conclusion 4-6 to Pennetta. The second set did not get any better for Justine. Misplaced service games, and very unstable returns gave Pennetta a dream lead out 0-5. Motivation, pride, and pure instinct draws out the best from Justine 1-5. Again, she digs deeps, and finds everything in her game that was missing 2-5. Justine fights again, and again 3-5. Nerves are getting rattled, and it's now directly from her opponent.
