Here is a rough translation of the beginnng for those outside Japan.
What we can see is a city.
Through the eyes of a bird flying high in the sky at night, we can see the sigh
t of it from the high above, In the wide-range view, the city looks like a gian
t creature. Or should I say it looks like a composite made of several interwini
ng living things,
Numerous blood vessels reach the ends of the elusive body and circulate the blo
od, replace the cells, send new information, and withdraw old information. They
send new consumption, and withdraw old consumption. They send new contradictio
n, and withdraw old contradiction. Every part of the body blinks, becomes fever
ish, wriggles to the rhythm of the pulse. It's almost midnight. and the activit
y passed its peak. But its basal metabolism continues without declining. The ho
wling of the city exists as a continuo. It is a howling that is flat and monoto
nous, but filled with hope.

I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
