上次考GRE已經是2006 十月的事了 那時還沒這個版 慘不忍睹的Verbal成績也讓我申請到一家沒聽過學校的PhD w/TA ship 糊裡糊塗唸了後大嘆不如歸去 隨後展開一段odyssey in the US 最後總算換了學校安定下來 ---------------以上是題外話------------------------- 總覺得自己單字量遠遠落後身邊的美國同學 放暑假開始背單字 把老方以前寄的不擇手段背GRE單字印出來背 (GRE真是惡夢阿 我不想再考了) 跟我以前背紅寶書一樣鬼打牆 唸了一個禮拜還沒走出A 最近逛書店買了這本 Fiske WordPower by Edward B. Fiske http://www.amazon.com/Fiske-WordPower-Edward/dp/1402206534 感覺編排得很有系統 依照同義字 主題 字源 字形幾個原則分門別類 一共有100章 舉例而言 Chapter 1 :Short word 三個字母組成的字群 ape dun fop gad hex ken poox sow vex vie Chapter 2 : Putting together/ Taking apart 有關拆合的字群 amalgamation eclectic motley asunder diaspora cleave disseminate Chapter 3: Down from Mount Olympus 希臘羅馬神話來源的字群 aphrodisiac chthonic hector hermetic junoesque mercurial mnemonic muse saturine 此外 每個單字都有深入的解釋和例句 若有兩個以上不同解釋或用法 會分別附上對應的例句 例如 CLEAVE Interestingly, this verb has two opposite meanings.
