C.J. Watson wants to be in Orlando, but is it possible?
With the Orlando Magic using most of their mid-level exception on Brandon
Bass and Matt Barnes, it appears there is no money left to sign point guard
C.J. Watson because the Magic are over the salary cap. But Watson, as told to
RealGM's Alex Kennedy, still has his heart set on playing in Orlando this
season.
Later in the story, Watson mentions that he's heard that a sign-and-trade is
a possibility.
The Magic's trade exception acquired for Keyon Dooling last offseason expires
in less than 24 hours - the way I see it, the only possible way to acquire
Watson would be to use the exception, which is worth about $2 million dollars
at this point. All the Magic can really offer to Golden State is a
second-round draft pick and/or cash considerations.
It appears that, despite mutual interest from both sides, Watson in a Magic
uniform is a long-shot at best.
