The longlist for the most lucrative award for writing in English has been
announced, with an appropriately gigantic number of contenders. One hundred
and forty-seven authors are in contention for the 2009 Impac Dublin prize,
which carries a purse of €100,000.

The shortlist will be announced on April 2 2009 and the winning novel will be
revealed on June 11 2009.
