He must have enjoyed the training session – and certainly was looking forward to the tournament. His first conclusion: “I am already feeling comfortable here again.” Joining him were girlfriend Mirka as well as his physiotherapist, his fitness trainer and coach Jose Higueras. Federer has started the mission “Wimbledon-Victory”. “I am already over the loss in Paris,” he stated. “It does not matter if you lose by a big or a small margin. A loss is a loss. After all, I was in the final of the French Open, so I am happy about it.” He did not seem too frustrated about missing out on the sole Grand Slam title he has yet to win. “It was clear for me quite quickly that I would go to Halle. The final was not too exhausting," he smiled. On Sunday evening, he had let tournament director Ralf Weber know that he would be coming. “We wanted to speak on the phone on Monday but I thought he could probably sleep better if I let him know straight away,” Federer added. “And the final in Paris was not that exhausting for me.” There are several reasons for the Swiss star to come to Halle, and he named a few of them: “It is more quiet than in Paris or London and we play on grass. And I can show the many fans I got here one thing or two. Federer appeared to be happy to shift his attention from clay to grass. “Of course I will keep a close eye on the football pitch, too,” he stated. “I support my countrymen and really look forward to their matches.” Tomorrow’s first-round match against Michael Berrer will be of bigger importance, though, as he has firmly set his sights on the 55th win on grass. “I must not underestimate Michael,” he said. “He is a dangerous leftie and will play aggressively. He has nothing to lose.” Last year the duo battled it out in Basle where Berrer did at least win one set. “He has been in Halle for a while and has had some time to adjust to the surface,” Federer added, not forgetting that he does not only want to win the first round but the whole tournament here in Halle. 10.06.2008 --
