Leoes Coach Paulo Bento admitted that Sporting lost to Spartak Moscow due to
their own defects in the aftermath of the shock 1-3 defeat that sees one of
the teams tipped as an outside bet for European success bite the dust with a
thump.
Speaking to Sport TV the Coach was honest.
"It was a let down and fans are
right to feel disappointed as we didn't play anywhere near our best game. We
had two objectives [the Champions League and the UEFA Cup] and we didn't
manage to fulfil our plans, so it is a disappointment."
Bento went on to say that Sporting
"didn't exhibit the capacity to win the
match and we allowed our rivals to take an early lead by losing focus. The
positive sides were that we did manage to narrow the disadvantage still in the
first half, we came back better in the second half, hitting the post, but we
lost concentration again and that was it."
