Not talking about the sandwich subway here, It's the subway system in New York City, and (almost) everyone hates it. Every morning I have to take subway to go to work, I have to make 1 transfer, and then walk about 20 minutes. The stations I need to stop at aren't on the express train route, so I can only take local trains, thus it takes a lot longer than usual. It's not really a big deal, since I enjoy reading (and sleeping) on the train, but recently, due to "construction", the subway system is totally out of control. Sometimes, the train would sit in the station for nearly 10 minutes, I guess the operator wants to wait until it's full. But right before it departs, the indicator would change from local (which is a green circle) to express (a purple diamond), and IMMEDIATELY the doors close. Are you serious? Is this some kind of trap? Trying to make everyone on the train late for work? Sometimes, the indicator will say it's local, with that shiny green circle. Ok, I get on that train, but the train doesn't stop at ANY local stations... When I finally get off the train, I realized only that section of the train I was on has green circle, every other section of the train have purple diamond for EXPRESS. Fine, I was careless, next time I will waste 10 minutes and check all 10 sections of the train before I get on! Sometimes, when I finally got on the right train, but the operator would announce, with the most annoying voice you will ever hear: "Dear passengers, because of construction, this train will now make express stops ONLY~ ^_<" Wow, thank you so much, next time why don't you take us all the way to New Jersey and THEN tell us when we get there? Sometimes, well, nice things can happen. Due to a sick passenger in a train, every train behind it were delayed. However, when things like this happens, no one on the train complains. (Contray to popular beliefs, New Yorkers can be nice.) You will see people making phone calls explaining why they will be late, you will hear operator apologizing for the situation, but you won't see or hear people complain. Sometimes, sitting in a delayed train, 30 minutes late for work, so crowded you have to fight for fresh air, can still make you smile :) -- People are capable of kindness beyond angels, yet we also commit sins that would put a demon to shame... --
