標題[Joke] A classical caterpillar's puzzle

You probably heard this caterpillar's puzzle if you are a local Taiwanese
who enjoy the art activities.
And if you didn’t hear it, don't worry, I will show you this classical
caterpillar story here one more time in English.
There were three caterpillars walking a line.
The first one said,” There is a caterpillar behind me.”
And the second one following said the same thing,” There is a caterpillar
behind me.”
Now, we all know that there is no any caterpillar behind the third one, isn’
t it?
Strangely, the third one also said the same,” There is a caterpillar behind
me.”
Why is so strange!
Do you know why?
For this puzzle I once head to ask a student whom study in Taipei Municipal
Jianguo High School, the best high school in Taiwan.
The smart student immediately responded,” I knew, the caterpillars were
walked a circle.”
Unfortunately, he was wrong.
I clearly said that the three caterpillars walked a line in the beginning,
why the boy said they walked a circle?
He was wrong.
The next day, I asked the same question to a school girl in the romantic
restaurant, and the girl thought three seconds and said,” I knew, because
there was a mirror behind the third one.”
Wrong again.
If there was a mirror behind the third caterpillar, we could totally saw six
caterpillars not only three, isn’t it?
Accordingly, we could easily understand this stupid answer is not come from
her brain…
By the way, the girl also studies in the best high school in Taiwan, the
Taipei First Girls High School.
Then, I started consider that the students whom study in abovementioned two
high schools are not real brilliant probably.
So, the third days, I just casually found a girl on the street, still asked
her the same question.
The girl though a while and said,” I knew, the third one is a nearsighted.”
The answer still not correct.
Now, I am ware that there are probably no one could answer this caterpillar’
s puzzle worldwide.
Can you?
PS: I should say that the abovementioned story actually was translated from a show, you will know what I am talking about, if you also had saw or heared the tape version of the show.
