I am quite surprised with the reaction which I am getting here. I don't know if it's the culture difference. This kind of list is very popular on Facebook and Myspace. People find it interesting to read about the person they know. Sometimes the list tells me more about my friend than our daily conversations. The reason may be that Americans are very selective about sharing their experience and lives. People keep reminding each other that there are questions which you are not supposed to ask. Even my closest American friends, they do ask permission before they ask some questions. Unlike people in Taiwan, there is no limit on what kind of questions you can ask. As everyone may know, age and salary are 2 big questions which you are not supposed to ask no matter how close you are. Unless the person brings it up themselves. However, when I was in Taiwan, people kept asking me how much I make each month. Some peole who I didn't know were asking the question when someone told them that I worked in the states. The funny thing is: you are not supposed to ask these private questions in America but it doesn't mean that people don't want to know. In fact, they are eager to know and gossiping is also big in this culture. Therefore, when people are sharing info, lots of people do read and also share something about themselves. Just some random thoughts. --
